Lex Weinstein

Community

Lex Weinstein is a Cuban-Jewish/American surfer, storyteller + spiritual ecologist highlighting the intersection of surfing x sustainability through an artful and inclusive lens. In 2013, she completed her Permaculture Design Certification and accepted a friend’s invitation to homestead on the North Shore of Kaua’i to immerse in an environmental studies of her own invention: farming and surfing. From there the concept of Sea + Soil was born, and her passion for environmental justice became a pathway to community

building + healing.

Greg Reese

Farming

Greg Reese is a Southern Californian agrarian with a passion for growing regenerative, organic food by building healthy soils and biodiverse landscapes. His expertise in small-scale urban farming and no-till market gardening allows him to offer the highest quality produce in areas that need it the most. With a background in rainwater harvesting systems, native landscapes, orchard care, and permaculture, Greg aims to use his decade of experience to fight against social and racial injustices in the food system.

Leia Vita

Storytelling

Leia Vita Marasovich is a first generation Slovenian-Croatian photographer, filmmaker and content producer. Since 2015, Leia has used her skills as a storyteller to feature earth stewards around the globe. Leia is often on the road splitting her time between farm tours, indigenous initiatives, and ocean-related adventures. She leverages her passion, skills, and artistic eye to tell stories that reconnect people to the beauty of nature and the sacredness of our collective human experience.

Jess Valenzuela Gangoso

Admin + Advocacy

Jess Connolly is first generation Filipino-Canadian with a background in real estate and business development. As the daughter of immigrant parents growing up in the welfare system, she has spent her life ensuring her family would never again struggle to have access to food + nature. An avid yogi + mindfulness practitioner, she has combined her personal ethos with her business acumen to find innovative solutions to exploitive land development + support conscious companies to expand on the global stage.

Mau Domingues

Design

Mauricio Domingues is an internationally recognized artist, animator, + illustrator. His playful, surf-inspired style has attracted prominent clients such as Redbull, GoPro, Casamigos, Old Pal and more. Growing up on a 5,000 acre ranch in Brazil, Mau followed his family’s legacy by converting his backyard in Southern California into a thriving tiny farm, the home of our S+S headquarters. If he’s not in the studio, you can find him tending the bees, in the garden with his daughter, Isabel, or scoring local swells.

Maya Harrison

Research + Education

Maya Harrison is a first-generation Mexican-Japanese student at UCSD studying Climate Change and Human Solutions with a minor in Human Rights. A lifelong surfer, Maya turned down a career in professional surfing to achieve her scholastic goals as a researcher and journalist with a mission to connect people back to the earth through cooking, writing, educating, and gardening. A talented poet, chef, musician, and plant Mom, Maya executes all that she does with warmth, passion + ease.
